PAA Webinar Draws Large Online Attendance from Stakeholders

The Online Seminar on βπΊππππππ πΎππππππ πππ π«πππ π½ππππππππππππ πππ π¨πππππππππππ πͺππππππππππππβ held last 10 June 2026 via RingCentral drew strong and wide participation from both PAA members and other interested individuals, showing a high demand for clear, data-driven messaging of agricultural research.
Organized by the Philippine Association of Agriculturists, Inc., the whole-day program recorded more than 980 individual accounts in attendance. The seminar was participated by researchers, agricultural extension workers, science communicators, and government and non-government agency personnel from across the country and overseas.
To officially welcome the participants, Dr. Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr., PAA National President, underscored the importance of effective and targeted communication in delivering services to the varied stakeholders within the agriculture industry.
Invited experts discussed how to turn research into accessible stories and convert datasets into insightful charts, maps, and infographics using various online tools, linking research to better agricultural decisions. Session 1 featured Mr. Virgelio C. Dargantes, Jr. from the Visayas State University who discussed the βFundamentals of Science Writing for Agriculture.β This was followed by a back-to-back presentation of DA-PhilRiceβs Dr. Jaime A. Manalo IV on βWriting for Impact: Policy, Extension, and Digital Platformsβ and βIntroduction to Data Visualization in Agriculture.β Lastly, Ms. Ladylyn. R. Jose and Mr. Emerson R. Denado from the DA-Agricultural Training Institute shared DA-ATIβs framework on visual storytelling, prioritizing the use of various channels in their extension services.
With the use of an integrated online platform, live session engagements through active chat box and session monitoring maximized our audience interactions. From the event evaluation, an overwhelming positive response from our participants demonstrated how fundamental knowledge on science communication could improve their competency in the workplace and apply their learning immediately. Attendees also mentioned their eagerness to sign-up for a follow-up training with CPD credits to build professional development.
In her closing remarks, PAA Vice President Dr. Analiza Henedina M. Ramirez announced the possibility that the PAA Webinar will continue as a series, with future sessions aimed at report writing and scientific publishing.
