EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
He completed his Bachelors degree in Agribusiness from the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB). He has a Masters degree in Agricultural Development Economics from the Australian National University and a doctorate degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Minnesota, USA.
PROFILE
Dr. Roberto F. Rañola, Jr, is a registered agriculturist and served as the first President of Philippine Association of Agriculturists, Inc. (PAA) after it was reorganized in 2011. Currently, he serves as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at PAA.
Dr. Rañola served as the Vice Chancellor for Administration and full Professor 12 at UPLB. During his time at UPLB, he authored and co-authored various refereed and non-refereed publications, books, and chapters in a book. He was a consultant to various local and international agencies and a Visiting Professor at the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) in Kyoto, Japan. His notable work as UPLB project leader on “Managing Environmental Risks for Sustainable Food and Health Security in Watershed Planning in Southeast Asia” was likewise funded by RIHN. He was also one of the consultants that prepared the National Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Plan and Industrialization Plan, 2021-2030: Transforming the Philippine Food System Together. Currently, Dr. Rañola is the Municipal Administrator at the local government of Los Baños, Laguna.
