EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Jessica received her BS Biology degree major in Cell Biology, Master of Science degree in Genetics with minor cognate in Microbiology and PhD in Genetics with Plant Pathology as her minor cognate from the University of the Philippines (UP), Los Banos and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). She also earned 12 units of Biostatistics from the University of Washington, Seattle.

PROFILE

Jessica is a Registered Agriculturist, certified Project Manager under PRiNCE2 certification and a Distinguished Toastmaster. She is well-published with H Index 9 and is multi-awarded.

Her diverse research interests are mostly on molecular aspects for breeding and genetics of different species such strawberry, rice, medicinal plants and vegetables for crop improvement and nutrient management.

Together with UPLB and UPDiliman professors and researchers, she led the DOST PCIEERD SPICE project which established the first indoor vertical farm or plant factory with artificial light (PFAL) in the Philippines.
